Overview :

The GFI EventsManager Deployment Guide provides IT Management with the necessary information to successfully deploy GFI EventsManager on the corporate network. It is an important aid which should be used during the planning stage of any deployment project.

Benchmark tests have been carried out at GFI Laboratories, and results are presented in this document. This will help in determining the resources required for the GFI EventsManager deployment.

A number of scenarios are also described, as case studies. They reflect real-world IT environment scenarios of varying sizes and complexities and are an additional aid in the planning stage of a GFI EventsManager deployment.

This chapter gives an overview on GFI EventsManager and how it works - Deployment considerations. This chapter describes important issues which should be taken into consideration when preparing the plan for a GFI EventsManager deployment project.

- Performance and sizing. This chapter presents benchmark results for a number of tests carried out to assess GFI

EventsManager performance. Use these benchmarks to determine the performance and sizing metrics required.

- Deploying GFI EventsManager on a Single domain LAN . This chapter describes two typical case scenarios involving small and large LANs. The steps taken to determine the GFI EventsManager deployment path are also listed.

- Deploying GFI EventsManager on a Multiple domain WAN.

This chapter describes a typical case scenario for a WAN with multiple domains and geographically remote sites. The steps taken to determine the GFI EventsManager deployment path are also listed.

- Deploying GFI EventsManager in a Mixed Environment. This chapter describes the scenario for deploying GFI EventsManager on a LAN where computer systems and network devices generate

Windows, Syslog and W3C events.

- Deploying GFI EventsManager to monitor a Demilitarized zone. This chapter describes the scenario for deploying GFI

EventsManager to monitor events generated by hardware and software systems on a Demilitarized zone.

- Deploying GFI EventsManager ReportPack. This chapter gives an overview of the GFI EventsManager ReportPack and describes the steps required to deploy it.
