IP Storage

IP-Storage networking technology was developed by the Internet Engineering Task Force. FCIP mechanisms enable the transmission of Fibre Channel (FC) information by tunneling data between storage area network (SAN) facilities over IP networks; this capacity facilitates data sharing over a geographically distributed enterprise.

Gaining Maximum Value from Information and Data
By :Quocirca Published Date: Jul 11, 2007
Mid-sized organizations have similar issues to large organizations when it comes to the storage and management of information and data, yet they often have limited capability to attract, retain and maintain the skills that large organizations will use in managing their data assets.  There is a strong need for more effective tools that will enable mid-sized organizations to manage their data assets and gain the greatest value from them.

The Storage Area Network Goes Global
By :Neterion Published Date: Oct 10, 2006
As the demand for bandwidth grows, so does the reach of networks. Users need to access data globally, from multiple locations around the world, quickly and transparently without breaking budgets. Data centers locked into servicing only local users unnecessarily constrain growth and expansion.

Building High Performance iSCSI SAN Configurations
By :Alacritech Published Date: Nov 28, 2005
IP storage using Internet SCSI (iSCSI) provides opportunity for many organizations looking to extend existing Fibre Channel SANs to stranded servers, or looking to deploy Ethernet-based SANs. It can reduce costs by allowing IT managers to take advantage of existing, familiar Ethernet networks. Often the biggest complaint white new technology like iSCSI is its ability to provide more than simple functionality and connectivity.

SPECIAL REPORT
IDC Workbook: Assess the Value of Deduplication for your Storage Consolidation Initiatives
Enterprises are caught between the continued growth in the amount of data they create, store, and depend on, and the need to consolidate IT resources to reduce costs and create a more 'green' IT environment. But while organizations have worked to reduce IT footprint, they must balance the need to improve resource utilization with more efficient protection and recovery capabilities, all in the face of increasing capacity pressures. Download the IDC Workbook: Protecting Data in the Context of Enterprise Infrastructure Consolidation and Data Growth: The Rise of New Technologies.
