Blade Servers

Blade Servers are self-contained computer servers, designed for high density. Whereas a standard rack-mount server can exist with (at least) a power cord and network cable, blade servers have many components removed for space, power and other considerations while still having all the functional components to be considered a computer.

Data Migration Strategy: Managed Server HSM for NetWare and Windows 2000/2003
By :Caminosoft Published Date: Oct 20, 2005
Companies today are faced with managing an ever-increasing amount of data. The traditional solution to this problem was to increase the amount of space on a server by adding more hard drives. This strategy would be similar to a person continually building additional rooms onto a house in order to have more space in which to store all his or her belongings, but without any thought as to where items were being stored.

SPECIAL REPORT
IDC Workbook: Assess the Value of Deduplication for your Storage Consolidation Initiatives
Enterprises are caught between the continued growth in the amount of data they create, store, and depend on, and the need to consolidate IT resources to reduce costs and create a more 'green' IT environment. But while organizations have worked to reduce IT footprint, they must balance the need to improve resource utilization with more efficient protection and recovery capabilities, all in the face of increasing capacity pressures. Download the IDC Workbook: Protecting Data in the Context of Enterprise Infrastructure Consolidation and Data Growth: The Rise of New Technologies.
