Business leaders expect two things from IT: keep mission-critical applications available and high performing 24x7 and, if something does happen, recover to be back in business quickly and without losing any critical data so there is no impact on revenue stream. Of course, there is a gap between this de facto expectation from nontechnical business leaders and what current technology is actually capable of delivering. For mission-critical workloads, which are most often hosted on databases, organizations may choose to implement high availability (HA) technologies within the database to avoid downtime and data loss.

For a backup solution to be considered flexible, it needs to satisfy
several key business requirements. It should integrate seamlessly
with any servers you’re running and provide full support for
all the applications your business uses. It should enable you to
protect assets in different parts of the country or overseas. And
it should let you manage and monitor backups from anywhere.
A flexible backup solution gives you everything you need to
protect the technology investments you make now and in the
future. So instead of having to buy multiple solutions to support
your changing needs, you can have a single solution that adapts
to fit your environment. We call that flexible deployment.
As Apple device numbers rise in business and education environments
around the globe, it’s imperative that technology investments are
maximized so that organizations can leverage Mac, iPad, iPhone and
Apple TV to their full potential. This can put a heavy burden on IT
staff that are now tasked with managing this influx of new devices –
especially those of you in established Windows environments.

The shift from a product- to a service-driven economy—mixed with an uncertain economic climate—has given finance teams the opportunity to become strategic business partners capable of shaping and guiding organisational decision-making. This partnership is only possible by creating a deeper understanding of the contextual factors that influence revenue and profit and loss, and making this analytical data available to the right stakeholders when they need it. That requires a fundamental change in the way finance teams think about technology.

Every company today is a software company and, as a result, business and technology strategies ought to be very intertwined. But often, those strategies aren’t in alignment, leading to challenges in information technology. And in today’s hyper-competitive business environment, that can be disastrous. Companies have to ask themselves: How can we tackle challenges of information technology? Are we doing IT wrong?
Today’s CIOs are the key players who enable organizations to respond to the disruptive forces and information technology challenges impacting all industries — mobile, IoT, and SaaS among others. In order to increase speed and agility there must be a strong partnership between IT and the rest of the business.
Read this e-book to learn:
Why we have been doing IT wrong, and how putting culture first and technology second, valuing reuse, and leveraging KPIs can push CIOs to the right direction.
How IT teams can address their delivery gap and increase project delivery speed by ado
We’ve all heard the phrase “you have to spend money to make money,” and while it may be accurate to some extent, businesses also have to keep a close eye on their budgets. As you establish your technology allowance and evaluate tools to help grow your business, consider these five items as absolute essentials.
As a business owner, you’re used to wearing several hats. However, you don’t always have the time or expertise needed for those various roles. So what do you do when you need help but don’t have the
resources to bring on a full-time team member? The answer could lie in temporary consulting.
If the role you’re struggling with most is in the information technology (IT) department, bring in an IT consultant to solve important technological problems and/or implement new systems. Hiring a temporary IT consultant to work on specific tasks can be more time
and cost efficient than hiring a full-time IT employee. Here’s how to find the right IT consultant.
ASG's Business Service PortfolioT (BSPT) Virtualization Management provides comprehensive oversight, inspections, discoveries, warnings, diagnostics, and reporting for the critical technology and administrative disciplines involved in virtual workload management. This is all done in parallel with physical systems management.
Limited visibility has tethered CIOs' success in both IT and business. However, using federated CMDB technology, CIOs can view the complete IT infrastructure and the entire lifecycle of a business service.
Because business success is tightly fused with technology, IT costs are rising, and this trend is expected to continue. As a result, businesses are demanding that IT be more than a static resource. IT is expected to deliver business results with a measurable contribution to the organization's bottom line.
Improved business productivity often requires more efficient IT and more efficient IT cannot be achieved without a better understanding of the way business services are run and delivered. Configuration Management Databases (CMDBs) have emerged as a central component for Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) and business service management (BSM).

In our latest Point of View, "The Dirtiest Word In Business," Airfoil has assembled a collective set of best practices to help technology marketers meet the communications challenges of a new digital decade.
Companies across the globe are all facing the same economic headwinds: business change in the form of competitive threats and new opportunities is coming at an unprecedented pace. The watchword for meeting these challenges is innovation – both in terms of business processes as well as the underlying technology that enables those processes.
The sum of the experiences discussed in this report showcase how SAP S/4HANA, running on-premise or in the cloud, can form the basis for a broad-based business transformation that does not require a big bang implementation to succeed.
Small and midsize retailers around the world are seeing their businesses transform in a variety of ways. These firms, typically with fewer than 1,000 employees, have been transforming themselves as customers seek new types of engagement and as suppliers expect higher levels of efficiency and effectiveness. New business models and new competitors are changing the way retailers do business. Rather than simply react to new threats, successful retailers are leveraging technology in new ways to sharpen business practices, improve agility, and better serve customers while strengthening the role of retailers in the supply chain.
Through digital transformation including the effective engagement of the internet of things (IoT) to track inventory, the opportunity to maintain and gain competitive advantage can be significant.
So what lessons can operators learn from the past experience with server virtualization? Beware of merely shifting costs from capital to operating expenditures. Be selective in virtualizing the right resources and functions driven by the business need, and not the technology lure.
Every enterprise is aware of the need for digital transformation. A 2015 study conducted by KPMG found that their top four concerns moving forward were: (1) new entrants disrupting existing business models; (2) the ability to keep current with technology; (3) competitors leveraging digital business models to take share; and (4) products and services remaining relevant as the digital future unfolds.
As BluePearl’s business continues to grow and its strategy evolves, its investment in Cisco® technology is protected. When BluePearl moves to a centralized data center in the near future, all Cisco HyperFlex nodes can still be managed as one integrated infrastructure.
Midsized firms operate in the same hypercompetitive, digital environment as large enterprises—but with fewer technical and budget resources to draw from. That’s why it is essential for IT leaders to leverage best-practice processes and models that can help them support strategic business goals such as agility, innovation, speed-tomarket, and always-on business operations. A hybrid IT implementation can provide the infrastructure flexibility to support the next generation of high-performance, data-intensive applications. A hybrid foundation can also facilitate new, collaborative processes that bring together IT and business stakeholders.
