Introduction
A premier service provider selects an integrated solution to roll out additional voice servicesleveraging newer Voice over IP (VoIP) technology. The solution integrates with a traditionalphone system to increase the service provider's total volume of calls, and enables calls toroute through IP for tremendous cost and performance savings.
Solution Players
The service provider hired a private consulting company to develop a voice application to meet their growing business needs. During development, the consulting company realized a more sophisticated technology solution was required and partnered with Envox Worldwide, a leading global provider of IP-based voice solutions. Envox contacted NEI, a leading system designer and integrator, and Dialogic, a leading provider of hybrid and IP solutions, to design a specific hardware platform for launching their new services.
Service Provider Requirements
The service provider enables conference bridging services and entertainment services such as chat roomsand dating phone lines. Realizing tremendous growth, they wanted to launch new conferencing and entertainment services as well as increase the number of participants each conference call or chat roomcould handle. This would make their service more attractive to customers and thereby provide additional revenue to the company.
However, their existing telephony infrastructure would be difficult and expensive to expand to handle the additional capacity. It would require significant investments in hardware as each server could only support240 ports. The service provider wanted to expand their system to over 10,000 ports in one year, about 2000ports per quarter. Additionally, their existing system could only handle traditional PSTN phone lines and thecompany wanted to migrate to IP for cost-savings and performance issues.
To that end, a high-density conferencing solution leveraging newer VoIP technology emerged as the solutionof choice. The consulting company and key technology leaders NEI, Dialogic, and Envox Worldwide designedthe technology solution that would enable them to provide services both over the traditional phone lines aswell as IP.

Solution Snapshot
The solution featured 500 ports using IP and 500 ports using TDM and included two servers from NEI, boards and software from Dialogic, and a final application developed by the consulting company using Envox technology:NEI E-2000 R5 Server for high-processing power.NEI EX-6000 Expansion System for installing five Dialogic cards initially with room for adding up to 16 cards total.Dialogic Host Media Processing (HMP) Software enables voice, RTP streaming, and other media processing on the server.Dialogic Digital Network Interface (DNI) Boards enable traditional PSTN connectivity for HMP via Time Division Multiplexing (TDM), supports high channel densities.Envox CT Application Development Environment (Envox CT ADE) Software to develop the voice, conferencing, and media services applications and easily integrate with the required Dialogic resources.
The new solution at the service provider's location enables for more ports over traditional phone lines andadds IP services as shown in this diagram.
